Matthew popped me a question in the midst of our discussion.

“Do you think you really can change the world?”

“Yes.” I answered without hesitation.

“If that’s the case, I don’t have anything to say.” he replied.

I wasn’t meaning to exert my ego over his. I had really MEANT it when I said I can change the world. It’s just that, very, very few people actually see things the way I do. It works out to simple math & history.

In terms of Math, if I can convince people to see my point of view and acknowledge it, get them to do the same, given say 50 years, it should hit the threshold to translate into change. In terms of mechanics, I’ll have to advocate my point, publish the information to the masses, create programs to engage and band like minded individuals together. In terms of history, there have been many examples of individuals who made a difference on a worldwide basis. They eat and breathe their cause.

it’s not just me. i really believe that you can too. totally.

i’ve been really into a cause. environmental conservation. i have to admit i am not living my entire life to that. come on, i’m not perfect. i make it a point to speak about it. learn more about it. translate it to actions. try to write a book. on the far end, quit my job. simply because i can spend my time doing something that matters on a global scale.

the day the ice caps melt and bring the sea levels up 6 metres, is the day you and i are responsible for the deaths of 100 million lives in Holland, India, China, America and many other places. and very, very possibly, this city of Singapore will be gone. (An Inconvenient Truth, http://climatecrisis.com) i too, in this equation, on the basis that i really hate swimming and getting wet. it’s too late, then.

if you care and ask if it is too late now, i have a very good feeling that it’s way too late. shutting down the 2.2 million power plants in the world only cools the planet by 1 degree celsius in the next 50 years. (Ecopolis)

in my opinion, this world is already as screwed up as it is. i seriously cannot imagine what is the need for political institutions to be so anal to each other. and, when the facts are placed before us, in the age of science, technology and industrial revolution, we pretend not to see or have the ability to read.

the human species, is the only lifeform on the planet which partakes in organized destruction – military action. at the same time, it is the only species to be able to manipulate the planet in it’s entirety.

it boils down to what we choose to do now. it’s a call to action.

you know, there is this great guy who’s been doing something about this. Al Gore, almost president of the united states. he’s been to much of the globe to convince people of the urgency of the matter and take action. most of the people who’s heard of him and his ridiculed show (An Inconvenient Truth) were stirred to do something. that emotion died off soon. some say his facts are skewed, some say he’s just doing something else after running for office, some say he’s just sore and taking a stab at the american congress. some say he just wants attention. some say the movie is sensationalizing the issue. some just ignore.

come on. maybe the alarm clock has gone off but it had run out of power. we are way too deep in this. no matter how screwed up Mr Gore’s facts may be. One fact remains.

“Global warming needs to be dealt with or the consequences are unimaginable.”

if we don’t deal with it now, it still has to be dealt with later, at a bigger price. we are simply doing what our parents had done and left the situation for our children to fend. that is so… perfectly moral and correct? this issue has been debated for the past 50 years, yet there are no real actions.

if the depletion of the ozone layer requires nations to take actions together, what will it be like for Global Warming?

can i complain for abit? i really don’t like the weather in Singapore now. its like freaking hot in the afternoons and stuffy at night. i just need so much of air conditioning. (yes, i know it’s not “global warming friendly”, i do pay my carbon offsets.) it has come to a point where it affects my attitude to my job. i have to be like so outdoors for it.

i think i need to do something about it. like really have my voice heard. i have plans for a network to be set up. if you want to contribute, contact me, whatever means necessary.

another issue. politics. i know i’m not a degree holder. (duh.) but i seriously don’t see why do nations have to be so set apart from one another and jousting for power. haven’t they realized that, as a planet, we can achieve much more?

i see it this way. we are a civilization on it’s own development. at our current stage, we are very greatly progressed.

(God would have been so pleased at this result after Creation but, He already knew what everything would be like right? God, why won’t you do something that is really helpful and kill off the whole suspense and unpredictability thing? I seriously don’t doubt you by asking this question. Since i’m like supposed to be good on earth for like 80 years to be in heaven for eternity, i might as well just screw this planet and welcome Armaggeddon. it brings me to heaven much faster. you know what? it’s really unfair that my generation has to deal with this while the ones during the highs of opium trade were just slacking in one corner greatly, since you are to love like ALL of us. I tell you what, i always feel low self esteem because you have chosen the Israelites as your people instead of the chinese. you should just like “magically” appear to all man and change this situation. everyone will believe you exist, seriously. i trust that You have internet to read this. oh, You’re supposed to ALREADY know what are my thoughts. silly me for publishing this on the public domain. Amen. hmm, although i was christian for like 7 years, i never knew what amen means. anyone can enlighten me? Note to other divine powers: if you are the true Divine One in this world and don’t understand english, just translate this on Babelfish. come on, you are like “almighty”. i’m just human.)

ok, a little off track here but, it’s my longest conversation to God in many years. back to the development of civilizations. this is solely my conjuncture. right now, there is a stark difference between developed and developing nations. when this is normalized, it will be the beginning of unification. when the issues of finance, food, shelter, standard of living, technology, connectedness and importance are dealt with to make developing nations equal to developed nations, we will start thinking as a planet. (self preservation is of utmost importance to politicians.) when the basic needs of life are taken care of for everyone, we can move on. everyone’s purpose is to help the human civilization progress and we’ll finally have a shot at finding other forms of intelligent life. why should we be running 3 space programs at the same time when we can pool the great brains together to have a better shot at it? i’m tired of this post. i shall write some other time on the plan for the human civilization. i’m starting to get out of point.

on a last note, seriously, call me, if you want to do something about the planet. if you don’t call, think and do something about it.

amen = let it be done. thats why there’s “in the name of jesus, amen”. get it? its statement of faith.

anyways about the getting to the end of the story thing. God’s more interested in the process than the result. sure, he could have it easy and used the chinese, well, he could even use a chinese who was married to an indian whose parents are russians. then it’ll be so simple right? but God usually chooses the difficult way out because through these tough times, through this periods of fire and moulding, we’ll become stronger in our character. then we’ll able to have the capacity to do greater things and … well, make the world a better place. :)

anyways, i heard you were going up to ME TEAM, but couldnt the last minute. you should have! then we got power designer, and i can be under your guidance!
