The Highs and Lows of the EverVerdy Life.
After months of feeling real high, I finally allowed myself to feel low. I’m still challenging the common idea of life. I’m challenging the concept of sequence in getting things done.
For a good part of many Singaporeans, their life is work, sadly. I asked somebody that I used to know about how she was doing. She exclaimed about what else could she be doing? besides work and trying to get things done. She commented that I seem to be enjoying life.
Enjoy Life.
Ahhh… yes, I am enjoying life. Less than perfect but better than before.
I figured that I can’t take life sequentially, simply because we are all not meant to be.
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
“All play and no work makes Jack simply useless!”
“What on earth is Jack supposed to do?”
It’s pretty much high time to note that we can’t just be doing one thing at any point of life. You work and you feel. You will feel like, “Hey, that’s too much work.” You start to resist work. It becomes boring and you start the process of endroning. You will want to play but you still have work to do. What else? You don’t move on.
Well, what’s next? Take time to enjoy life. You don’t need to be successful to enjoy life. You just need to be doing what you want to do, to really enjoy life.
Community Service
I did Community Service today. Well, I know that’s unexpected of me but, I had a nice little experience of the magnificence today. There is this fella named John, who is one of the beneficiaries that I interact with. I was there from 10am to 12pm. I thought, I ought to see him around, coz I saw him there last week. We had some fun time playing pool, which he was very passionate for. You all know i’m a swimming pool guy more than a table pool guy. Interesting. He turned up at 12pm just after lunch. He came to me, grabbed my arm and wondered why am I here, coz my commitment was fortnightly. I could see joy and excitement on his face, which wasn’t really showing up the past few weeks. I felt, I had made a difference to this guy who I’ve only met 3 times. I have created something for him to look forward to. I had more of a heart at that point of time. haha.
We went on and today I did a triathlon. Not what those slimmer than bamboo people would do. I did pool, table soccer and table tennis. Well, you can add carrom and Jenga to that. lol. By mere participation, my existence has made a little more value in this world.
Perceived Failure.
I wanted to get something done today. I tried and well, I failed. Again.
Somehow, I felt I had reached the limits of my emotions. Today, I really, really felt alot about it. Haiz. It’s finally getting to me. It’s interesting how the value of something or someone can escalate in a tiny number of weeks, fractions of a year. I should correct myself, it’s the perceived value. Crap. I am so screwing my own brain.
Time – Killer of All Things
Time is a killer of all things. The longer you lack of air, you die. The longer you lack of food, you die. The longer I keep you from water, you die. The longer I don’t give, you die. The longer you live, you die. To sum up the story – let time pass and you die.
Because of this, there are possibly only 2 constants in this universe. Time and Inevitable Death. Birth precedes Death. Stars precede Supernovae. Galaxies precedes… well, I don’t know what. Stephen Hawkings hasn’t figured that out.
My New Sheep.
This week, I had a new group of trainees. 13 individuals with great aspirations. I definitely have to tell you, they’re all women, well, girls actually, considering their young ages. I took time and effort to interact with them on group and individual basis. I had many great takeaways.
Some are happy, some are sad.
Some are thinking.
Some don’t know what they are doing. All of them don’t know they are doing.
All of them hope.
A few love to feel “right“.
All of them have nice hearts.
Their Hearts.
I started an exercise with them, as part of my project on “How the World would have Worked?” I got them to list down one thing that they want to do to this world. One difference that mattered. Note that I did not list if it’s in positivity or negativity. I churn out the following:
- To put smiles on Everyone’s Faces.
- Reduce Poverty in the World.
- Reduce the Use of Plastic.
- Prevent Political Misuse.
- Help those in Duress.
- Transparency in Governmental Authority.
- Promote Health.
- Continue Volunteerism for Good Causes.
- Participate in UN Missions.
- Let all Kids have Shoes.
- Introduce Intermediate Technology to Less Developed Countries.
- Build East Timor.
- Be a Friend to Everyone.
Conclusion
Given anyone, the freedom of speech and the context of the world, they will advocate benefit for others. So far, in my sampling, there is no tinge of self centeredness. Are humans born good or are they educated to be? I’ve yet to answer that.
