I attended a so called “Seminar” by a prominent bank and insurance agency. It wasn’t because I was particularly interested in it but, I was “forced” by some unforeseen circumstances. This event brought me several verbatims.
1. “Today we are going to talk about ‘Saving for Retirement’.” – a rather hilarious moment where I had to suppress my guffaws as the title of the presentation read “Investing in a Volatile Market”.
2. “We have a special promotion for today only… & this week.” – looks like this agent has a problem creating a “Limited Time Only” offer. I seriously had a week to think about it.
3. “Instant Vouchers.” – sounds impressive & attractive but has anyone ever thought what does that really mean?
4. “Aiya, share prices have been dropping everywhere la but it is a good time to buy now.” – random comment as the S&P500 drops 15% from October 2007 & enters it’s 6th year of a Bear Run.
5. “If I say it once, I’ve said it a hundred times.” – Singaporean radio persona, “Lover Joe” who has a 101% hit rate in love.
