70/07 CLM brought me some crappy memories.

during one of the training sessions, cadets gave a debrief and said that “sometimes, too many cooks spoils the broth.” that’s because they fumbled while trying to solve problems as many of them provided solutions. sometimes, you just need to listen and execute. to me, it’s a case of “too many cocks spoils the broth.” one problem, many cock solutions, executed by many “cocks”.

all officers began that way. without the epaulette, the country’s name on your shoulders & the 7-religion blessing during commission, we never turn out right. i still remember myself as a “cock” when i was a Tri Service Cadet. no choice, i didn’t know the parameters that i was allowed to work in. that was 2 yrs ago.

met the parents of my trainees today, had long discussions with the parents to assure their concerns. one thing was great – the parents could see positive changes in the boys. many of the parents expected the course to be harsh, ridiculous & unreasonable. it was the direct opposite & the results were exemplary.

by an amazing twist of fate, the beatboxer in my charge has a sister. she’s Ceres Chung, met her when i was in Temasek Polytechnic. think there are alot of surprises in life, esp when you least expect it. of all places, at my workplace.
