was watching the news just now. channel 8. it’s been a year or so since i had proper time to sit down in front of the television. they had a precious 5 minute segment on the rise of designer imitations on sale through the internet. they even had a police spokesman to talk about what breaks the law and what doesn’t. he was saying that trying to pass off an imitation as the real thing is a crime. selling an imitation itself is a crime. the segment’s alot on the people in Singapore who are getting caught for selling imitation stuff. utter rubbish la. why are they broadcasting this to the citizens when everyday, the pasar malams, or as you westernized folks may call a “night bazaar”, are selling the exact imitations? why can’t they just do a sting operation every now and then to keep the vendors in check?
how about the hundred and one vendors on Ebay selling handmade accessories at competitive prices who are without a business registration?
or
the million and one so called “web designers” out there who have no qualification, licences and proven work but still operating under the tag “freelancer”?
i’m quite sick of the government being all talk and no action but i can’t say that “i want to go against you all!” because that will land me in jail. wtf?
